As the article notes, reaching a settlement acceptable to both sides (Russian and Ukrainian - ed.) will be an incredibly difficult task, but this is the only way to end the war.

There will be pressure on Biden not to use the prospect of lifting sanctions to help Ukraine reach such a settlement, and if he tries to do so, there will certainly be politically motivated analogies with Munich. However, as with the Afghan withdrawal, Biden must accept the reality and limits of American power, ignore domestic political issues, and make the hard compromises necessary to achieve the best possible outcome for Ukraine.
