A 36-year-old man has died after being shot “multiple times” in downtown Toronto, Canada, local police say, Global News reported.

Officers said several people called to report multiple gunshots and that somebody had been shot. Police arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound and several casings.

The victim was transported to hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Police named the victim as Elijah Eleazar Mahepath from Toronto.

The murder suspect was described as a Black man between 35 and 40 years of age. Police said he had short hair and wore a light long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans and a blue surgical mask.
