German Chancellor Olaf Scholz does not plan to visit Kyiv in the near future.

In an interview with RBB radio, Scholz recalled that he visited Kyiv just a few days before the start of the war and regularly calls Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. It is unlikely that there will be a head of state or government who maintains such intense contact with him, he noted.

Scholz noted that Kyiv's refusal to accept German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is puzzling. Steinmeier himself would like to go to Ukraine and visit Zelensky, Scholz said, but he did not comment further.

The President of Germany earlier confirmed that Kyiv refused to accept him, confirming the publication in the Bild tabloid, which, citing a Ukrainian diplomat, said that Steinmeier's active ties with Moscow were the reason for this.

Meanwhile, in an interview with CNN today, an adviser to the head of the presidential administration of Ukraine, Serhiy Leshchenko, denied reports that Zelensky had rejected a proposal for a visit by the German president.

At the same time, Oleksiy Arestovich, adviser to the President of Ukraine, told German public television that Zelenskyy had no intention of insulting Berlin.
