Representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan agreed to continue measures to relieve tension on the common section of the border, where on April 12 there was a conflict with the use of weapons between the military personnel of the two states.

According to the Kyrgyz side, during the meeting, agreements were reached to continue the withdrawal of additional forces and means drawn to the border during the border conflict, to their permanent deployment points and to create a working group that should work on clarifying the routes of movement of border patrols of both countries.

It was also decided to conduct explanatory work with the local population of the border areas on the issue of compliance with previously reached agreements on the procedure for joint land use and water use. And the border representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in this region were instructed to ensure the exact implementation by the military personnel of the border departments of the requirements of the line of conduct of border guards on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the border.

The situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border is characterized as relatively stable, the message noted.

During the day, the sides opened fire twice. In addition, Kyrgyzstan reported on a mortar attack from Tajikistan on the Kyrgyz village of Dostuk located in the Batken region. On Wednesday night, the parties agreed to withdraw additional forces and equipment from the confrontation zone. On the Kyrgyz side, six people were injured during the incident.

Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are member countries of the CSTO.
