The Joe Biden administration is in internal talks to send a senior official to Kyiv, POLITICO reports, citing two U.S. officials.
A decision on a possible visit has not yet been made, as discussions continue in the White House.
President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris remain among the possible visitors, although it is much more likely that a cabinet minister like Secretary of State Antony Blinken or Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin will go, officials said.
If the administration decides to send someone to Kyiv, then it is understood that there will be no announcement for security reasons. It may not take place at all due to the unstable nature of the war.
