Armenia should strive to ensure at all costs that the format of the OSCE Minsk Group for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict is maintained. Hayk Mamijanyan, the secretary of the opposition "With Honor" Faction of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, stated this during Friday’s press briefings in the NA.

According to Mamijanyan, several months ago their bloc had expressed concern about the lack of a plan by Armenia’s government in the event of Russia's withdrawal from the OSCE due to the ongoing international processes.

"There was no response from the current government. What happened to the Russian co-chair [of the OSCE Minsk Group] was to be expected. We now need a clear assessment of Armenia and Karabakh. We need confirmation of their commitment to the Minsk format," Mamijanyan explained.

He added that even though Russia has been and remains the strategic ally of Armenia, the latter needs to assist the activities and existence of the OSCE Minsk Group in every way until another—and just as pro-Armenian—format is found and specified.
