About 74 thousand people have come to Armenia from Russia since the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis. The minister of economy of Armenia, Vahan Kerobyan, said this in an interview with RBC.

"As for the Ukrainian citizens, mainly the Armenian diaspora came; they have returned. There are not many ethnic Ukrainians [in Armenia]—one or two thousand, no more. As for the flow from Russia, according to the latest data, it is about 75 thousand people—of which, again, about half have Armenian passports. We do not know how long they will stay in Armenia. (…). In general, Armenia, you know, is a hospitable country; especially Russian citizens can live and work freely [in Armenia]," he said.

And asked whether there is a fear that there will be tension or violence between those who have arrived in Armenia from Russia and Ukraine, Kerobyan responded: "We had a day when those who opposed the [Russian] special military operation [in Ukraine] and the people who supported it held two separate rallies [in Yerevan]. And many were wondering how that could be. But we are a democratic country, and everyone has the right to express themselves."

According to the Armenian economy minister, Russia is the largest investor in Armenia.

"And we believe that, based on many factors, the pace of investments should be at least the same. It is understandable that the economic situation is getting a bit more complicated due to sanctions and so on. But I believe that the economic activeness of our cooperation should not weaken, but increase."
