The forest fire has been raging for over four hours on Sunday in the province of Mugla in western Turkey and continues to grow, the newspaper Turkiye reported.
According to the newspaper, the fire broke out at around 05:00 am in the area of Yakaköy near Bodrum. The strong winds caused the flames to spread from the forest area to the bushes and olive trees.
Firefighters are currently unable to reach some of the fire spots. They are being assisted by local residents.
Forest fires in Turkey are an annual occurrence, but in the summer of 2021 the largest wildfires occurred in 30 Turkish provinces in the south of the republic at once. The fires killed 10 people and injured more than 860.
