The Lyublino District Court has sentenced five Azerbaijani participants in an inter-ethnic conflict in Moscow in 2020 to two years and eight months in prison, and two others have been sentenced to probation. This was reported to TASS by the press service of the aforesaid court.

"The court found E. Alakbarov, B. Valiev, P. Gamidov, T. Ismailov, A. Kafarov guilty of hooliganism and sentenced them to two years and eight months in prison in a general regime colony," the abovementioned press service said in a statement. Two other Azerbaijani defendants in the respective criminal case, M. Zakhidov and D. Giyasov, have been sentenced to probation.

Clashes between Armenians and Azerbaijanis had taken place in Moscow in July 2020 amid the escalation of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh). Several people wearing surgical masks had attacked people in cars with Armenian license plates. Shortly afterwards, seven Armenians had attacked a restaurant in Moscow.
