Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, 2,072 civilians have been killed, including 169 children. This was announced by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
Accordingly, another 2,818 people were injured, including 272 children.
Most of the casualties are in Donbas—where 732 people were killed.
At the beginning of the war, 653 people were killed in the territories controlled by Ukraine.
The UN emphasizes that the real number of casualties may be higher as verified information from the scene comes with delays due to the ongoing hostilities.
