The government and military of Germany reject the statement of the ambassador of Ukraine that the country can provide armored combat vehicles to Kyiv, AP reported.
Ambassador Andriy Melnyk, who has frequently criticized Germany's slowness in arms deliveries and other matters, claimed that the German Bundeswehr was using about 100 Marders for training and they could be immediately handed over to Ukraine.
But Defense Ministry spokesman Arne Kollatz said Germany needed the vehicles to deploy to NATO's eastern flank and for training. He said that the delivery of heavy materials from the warehouse of the Bundeswehr is not expected.
