The Pentagon announced the delivery of more than 120 Phoenix Ghost drones, specially designed by the US Air Force for the needs of Ukraine, Fox News reports.

A senior defense official said the Phoenix Ghost is a tactical unmanned aerial system that was rapidly developed by the Air Force in response to the specific requirements of Ukraine.

The newest drone will have capabilities similar to the Switchblade drone, which is small enough to be carried in a backpack, launches easily and explodes after it hits a target, she said, but declined to comment on its capabilities.

Officials also did not specify how quickly the Air Force was able to develop the drone, but said it was created as a direct response to Ukrainian demands.

The Phoenix Ghost will require minimal training, officials said, and the US will work with the Ukrainian military to train them on the drones.
