TEHRAN. - Armenia and Iran intend to expand cooperation in the electricity sector, Armenia’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsisyan stated at the meeting with Iranian Deputy Energy Minister Mohammad Behzad in Tehran.

Behzad stressed the bilateral agreement on construction of a power station in Meghri city was finalized, guaranteeing the purchase of electricity generated at the station, Irib News reports.

As for the construction of the third transmission line connecting Armenia and Iran, Behzad noted the financial agreement is signed. However, the Armenian side has not yet provided necessary conditions and line of credit has not yet opened.

The Iranian official also reported on the transit of electricity from Turkmenistan to Armenia via Iran, adding ​​talks between 3 countries were held in Ashgabad and the sides were prepared to sign the agreement.
