Israel will close the border crossing between the country and the Gaza Strip, the army announced after reports of a projectile fired at Israel on Saturday morning that landed in an open field, Haaretz reported.

The Israeli army said the Erez border crossing would be closed on Sunday, banning workers and traders from the Gaza Strip from entering Israel.  The decision to resume the work of the checkpoint will be made in accordance with the assessment of the situation, the report said.

A previously unidentified projectile fired from Gaza landed in an open area in southern Israel, hours after the Israeli army reported two rockets fired had landed in the Gaza Strip.
