The co-founder of the Aurora humanitarian initiative, Noubar Afeyan, referring to the Armenian-Turkish relations, noted that for the first time there is an ongoing dialogue with our neighbors about the past and the future, and sometimes against the backdrop of our existential threat.

Any decision on a peace deal and relations with Turkey must also include accountability to four different groups. Some of them are our ancestors who died due to historical injustice, he noted.

According to him, he second group is the newborns, who in 20 years will inherit the country that we will leave them. We need to think about what they want us to do. The third group are the Armenians living in Armenia and Artsakh, who will be directly affected by these decisions, and the fourth group are the Armenians of the Diaspora.

Bringing all these views together is a very difficult task. Any solution that suits one group will create additional difficulties. Afeyan adviced to find a balance between these four responsibilities.

According to him, we all want lasting peace and stability in the region, but this must be done on the basis of integrity and accountability, and not at the behest of the moment.
