Following the cynical proposal of a Turkish lawmaker to rename the Armenian-Turkish border checkpoint after one of the organizers of the Armenian Genocide, an Azerbaijani MP has made a no less cynical proposal.
At the plenary session of the Milli Majlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan, MP Malahat Ibrahimgizi proposed to rename some parts of the "Zangazur [(Zangezur)] corridor," APA reported. For some time now, Azerbaijan has started to call as such the Syunik Province of Armenia.
The aforesaid Azerbaijani legislator stated that "a group of intellectuals from the Zangazur community" had petitioned to her.
"The petition proposes to name the section of the Zangazur corridor connecting with Lachin after Khosrov Bek and Sultan Bek Sultanov brothers, who fought against Garegin Nzhdeh, Andranik Ozanian—representatives of Armenian fascism—who carried out the massacres of Azerbaijanis in 1905-1906 and in 1918," Azerbaijani MP said.
