There is no need to put off the fight with the current authorities for another two or three years. Armenia, as a state, may simply not exist at this moment. The chairman of the Helsinki Committee of Armenia, human rights activist Avetik Ishkhanyan said this during a debate Tuesday.

According to him, the Armenian people are still facing serious challenges despite all the trials that have already befallen them.

"I do not believe that the current authorities were able to win the [snap parliamentary] elections [last year] honestly after the catastrophic defeat in the [Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh)] war [in the fall of 2020]. I am convinced that the election results were falsified. But it turned out that today’s authorities are, in fact, quite acceptable for our people," Ishkhanyan said.

Nevertheless, the human rights activist is convinced that in case of a change of power in Armenia, the Armenian people will no longer have as mediocre authorities as the current ones.
