The US promised to move heaven and earth to help Ukraine. Allies from 40 countries met to strengthen the defense of Kyiv, reports AFP.

The meeting, convened by the United States at its Ramstein Air Base in southwest Germany, aims to help Ukraine win the fight against Russia's unjust invasion and bolster Ukraine's defenses for the future, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said as he opened the talks.

Ukraine clearly believes that it can win, as does everyone here, he added.

The US is already Ukraine's largest provider of international military aid, and Austin said Washington will continue to move heaven and earth to ensure we meet Kyiv's needs.

At the talks, German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht said that Berlin had given the go-ahead for the supply of used Gepard anti-aircraft tanks to Ukraine.

Lambrecht acknowledged that the Bundeswehr's arms stocks were limited, but said she would turn to the stocks of German arms manufacturers.

Ukraine orders and Germany pays, she said.
