The production of red caviar in the Far East is under threat due to the new rules of veterinary control, the Kommersant newspaper writes.

On March 1, new rules of veterinary and sanitary examination came into force, according to which salting fish requires the constant presence of veterinary specialists at enterprises where caviar is produced.

According to Georgy Martynov, the head of the Association of Fishery Enterprises of Primorye, the production of caviar requires a continuous process and it is impossible to postpone the ambassador, waiting for the approval of the veterinary service.

The Ministry of Agriculture is considering the possibility of compiling a list of remote processing plants in the Far East that will be able to continue the production of red caviar without the presence of veterinary service employees.
