Armenia has rejected several proposals to hold trilateral talks at various levels—in particular at the level of foreign ministers, various specialists, as well as in the format of civil society. Our partners are aware of this. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated this speaking at the international conference, entitled "South Caucasus: Development and Cooperation," which is being held in the Azerbaijani-occupied Armenian city of Shushi, Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).

"Nobody knows the reasons for refusing. I consider this approach extremely ineffective. If we look at the future of the region, Armenia's policy does not follow any logic in the framework of regional security, cooperation and development in the South Caucasus. Armenia must establish relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey—at the same time renouncing territorial claims," the Azerbaijani president added.

"Armenia must renounce its territorial ambitions towards Azerbaijan and Turkey. Armenia must realize that it is not possible to remain an isolated, ‘island’ regime in the region. By establishing relations with Azerbaijan and renouncing territorial ambitions towards Azerbaijan and Turkey, it should not hinder the process of trilateral cooperation," Aliyev said.
