Russian regulators have filed a lawsuit against Google for a fine of 7.2 billion rubles (approx. US$101 million) for refusing to remove content banned in Russia, Kommersant reports.
In late December 2021, a Russian court for the first time imposed a fine on foreign IT companies in Russia: Google and Meta.
According to the Federal Bailiffs Service database, on Friday, the Tagansky District Court of Moscow decided that Google shall be fined 7.2 billion rubles.
The deadline for the voluntary payment of this amount had expired on March 19.
