TEHRAN. - Iranian police seized 8,685 kg of opium in Kerman province, which is the largest consignment ever revealed in Iran.
According to police chief Hossein Chanariana Kerman, the cargo belonged to a major organized crime group, whose certain members are detained, others - are wanted.
Most probably, the opium was intended for sale abroad.
The cost of the consignment is estimated at 13 billion Iranian tomans (about $12 million), reports ITAR-TASS with a reference to IRNA news agency.
