Kazakhstan has revealed the number of those convicted of crimes committed during the days of mass riots in January 2022.
According to the republic's Prosecutor General Berik Asylov, 331 people were sentenced.
He told about it to the President of the republic Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as the press service of the head of the state reports.
According to Asylov, cases against 489 people were sent to courts, 331 were sentenced - mainly for theft, robbery, possession and theft of weapons. "Only 23 people were sentenced to actual imprisonment, the rest were sentenced to more lenient forms of punishment," said the prosecutor general.
He noted that cases of unauthorized methods of investigation and deaths during the riots are under special control.
