Moscow hopes that Ankara will refrain from actions that could lead to a dangerous deterioration of the situation in Syria, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"We hope that Ankara will refrain from actions that could lead to a dangerous deterioration of the already complicated situation in Syria," the statement said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also noted that Moscow is sympathetic to "Turkey's concerns about threats to national security emanating from the border regions of Syria."

"In this connection, we believe that reliable security on the Syrian-Turkish border can be ensured only by deployment of servicemen of the security agencies of the SAR in the adjacent area," the statement stresses.
