A total of 11.6 billion drams have been allocated for social assistance to the people of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) who are temporarily residing in Armenia. The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Narek Mkrtchyan, said this during Friday’s preliminary debates on the execution of the 2021 state budget, at the joint meeting of the standing committees of the National Assembly of Armenia.

The people of Karabakh temporarily residing in Armenia have received support for every member of the family—but except for able-bodied men.

"In addition, the residents of Karabakh who lost their homes in [Armenian] controlled and non-controlled territories have been allocated one-time benefits in the amount of 1.55 billion and 2.1 billion drams, respectively. Moreover, a total of 258 million drams has been allocated to the families [in Armenia] who hosted Karabakh residents, refugees in their apartments and houses," Mkrtchyan said.

Also, according to him, 172 million drams were allocated to the enterprises of Syunik Province of Armenia; in particular, to the hotels where refugees from Karabakh were accommodated.

During the year, displaced Karabakh residents received an additional 5.4 billion drams in assistance to purchase an apartment.

Besides, as the minister noted, the programs of assistance to the Artsakh residents temporarily working in Armenia’s enterprises continue, and total of 181.5 million drams was allocated in this connection.
