The European Union does not recognize Russian passports issued to residents of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, EU diplomat Josep Borrell said in a statement.

According to a statement released by the EU Foreign Office, the European Union condemns the decrees of the President of Russia of May 25 and May 30, which simplify the process of granting Russian citizenship to citizens of Ukraine in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, as well as children left without parental care, and incapacitated persons from Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, as well as the DPR and LPR. As Borrell said in a statement, the European Union does not recognize these passports.

Earlier, the head of the military-civilian administration of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo noted that the inhabitants of the region are determined to receive Russian citizenship, according to him, a special administrative center has been opened where people can apply for Russian citizenship and a Russian passport.
