Defense Ministers of Russia and Turkey Sergei Shoigu and Hulusi Akar discussed the security of navigation in the Black Sea in connection with the solution of the problem of grain export from the territory of Ukraine.

 "At the initiative of the Turkish side on 7 June, 2022, telephone talks were held between the Minister of Defense of Russia Sergei Shoigu and the Minister of National Defense of Turkey Hulusi Akar.

The main focus was an exchange of views and assessments of the situation in Ukraine and Syria. The defense ministers discussed in detail the security of navigation in the Black Sea in connection with the solution of the problem of grain export from the territory of Ukraine," the Defense Ministry added.

The sides also noted the importance of continuing close cooperation in Syria to maintain long-term stability in the region. Russian-Turkish contacts on these issues will continue," the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
