Former rector of Yerevan State University (YSU) Aram Simonyan has died. The information was confirmed to Armenian News-NEWS.am by YSU.

Simonyan was a historian, publicist, and a distinguished academician of Armenia.

He was elected YSU Rector in 2006 and resigned on May 23, 2019.

Aram Simonyan was a member of the former ruling Republican Party of Armenia.

Simonyan was the author of 85 academic works, four of which are monographs.
