Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan is glad to hear from the Turkish leadership about its readiness to normalize relations, establish diplomatic relations, and reopen the border with Armenia.

"This is welcome. However, on the one hand, Turkey declares its readiness to normalize relations without preconditions, on the other hand, we see a link between the progress in the process of normalization of relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan; this cannot be considered a constructive approach," Mirzoyan said.

Speaking about Armenia’s relations with Azerbaijan, Mirzoyan noted that the respective talks are going in several directions, but the positions on many issues do not coincide. Nevertheless, as per the Armenian PM, Yerevan continues to believe in the peace process and the important component of the negotiations on Nagorno-Karabakh, which should continue within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group which has an international mandate of mediator.

As factors hindering the process, the Armenian FM pointed to the refusal of the Azerbaijani side to return all Armenian captives, its ongoing encroachments on Armenian cultural heritage, provocations, and ceasefire violations. Ararat Mirzoyan drew the attention of Baku and international partners to these circumstances.
