The participants of the meeting of the CSTO Council of Ministers held in Yerevan paid great attention to the international and regional security situation. The situation is not easy in all three of our regions of collective security. Secretary General Stanislav Zas of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) stated this following the meeting—in Yerevan—of the Council of CSTO Foreign Ministers.

"As for the Eastern European region, it is getting worse there," Zas said. According to him, the CSTO FMs’ statement on the situation with regard to international security expresses deep concern over the ongoing degradation of the international security system.

He noted that a position was voiced on the strict observance of the principle of equal and indivisible security, and the inadmissibility of strengthening of some states at the expense of others.

Zas noted that assistance was also provided to strengthen the role of the UN Security Council in maintaining international peace and security.

The second matter was the discussion of the work aimed at improving the CSTO crisis response.

"This is a priority of the Armenian side. The first practical experience was gained during the operation in Kazakhstan. It provided a good basis for improvement," Zas said.

He noted that he had informed the CSTO foreign ministers about the work being done in this regard.

"It is about correcting the legal field, improving the system of training of governing bodies and troops—including the CSTO working bodies. We are resolving a number of issues," said Zas.
