Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro arrived in Tehran to hold talks with senior Iranian officials, Tasnim reported.

Maduro arrived on Friday, leading a high-level political and economic delegation, for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

The president of Venezuela will meet with his Iranian counterpart, and take part in a gathering of high-ranking officials from both countries.

Iran and Venezuela have worked closely together to mitigate the effects of sanctions, notably those aimed at the energy sector.

Iran has supplied fuel shipments and equipment needed in crude refineries to Venezuela in the face of US pressure on the country's shipping and trade services.
