Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari said the country may cancel visas for Russian businessmen in order to increase investment in the country, Mehr reported.

Safari announced this on Sunday at a meeting of the headquarters for the coordination of foreign economic relations to discuss Iranian-Russian relations.

At the meeting, Safari characterized relations with Russia as strategic, saying that in recent months there has been tangible progress in these relations.

The three areas of energy, trade and transit are important issues between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia that require the cooperation of responsible apparatuses, Safari said.

The Deputy Foreign Minister also expressed satisfaction with the growth of Iran's exports to China and Russia in recent months.

Saying that Russia has published a list of its demands, he added that Iran has the ability to export many of these goods, and this could lead to a significant increase in Iranian exports.

He also announced the possibility of visa-free travel for Russian businessmen to increase investment in the country.
