Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan will declare at the NATO summit in Madrid that Turkey will not compromise on its position on "countries that support terrorism," the Turkish leader's office said.

"The Office of Communications under the Turkish presidential administration will hold a panel in Brussels on June 17 to discuss "the future of NATO after the war in Ukraine." The panel will convey Turkey's talking points to the world using the power of public diplomacy. Prior to the NATO summit, which President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will attend June 28-30, the Communications Directorate will hold a discussion in Madrid on June 28 to inform the international public. President Erdogan is expected to highlight at the NATO summit that "Turkey will not compromise on its position against countries that support terrorism and terrorist organizations," RIA Novosti quoted Erdogan's office as saying.

Sweden and Finland have applied for NATO membership. However, Turkey was against it, accusing the countries of "supporting terrorists" and expressed indignation over the arms embargo on Turkey. The unanimous consent of all 30 NATO member states is required to admit new members to the alliance.
