Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has accused Yerevan of refusing from a meeting between the foreign ministers of Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia.

"Our approach to the Caucasus is integration, cooperation, and Azerbaijan has already offered several times that first step be taken," Aliyev said at the opening of the IX Global Baku Forum under the motto "Challenges to the Global World Order.”

"We have consulted with our Georgian colleagues on this issue, and the Georgian government supports the idea of holding a trilateral meeting in Georgia at the level of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia, and starting that dialogue. Unfortunately, Armenia refuses. I do not know the reason, I cannot find any logical explanation," Aliyev said.

He noted that such attempts are launched also by some European institutions.

"And rejection again [from the Armenian side]. If Armenia does not want peace in the South Caucasus, then a question arises: What do they want? If they want the next war, it will be a disaster for them, and they clearly understand that. And I believe that the authorities and the revanchist forces in Armenia clearly understand that this will be the end of [the Armenian] statehood. Therefore, I believe we should get a clear answer from Armenia about how they see the South Caucasus. Our position is clear, the position of the Georgian government is clear. We want to start that dialogue, cooperation; but, it is understandable—it will be impossible without Armenia," the Azerbaijani leader said.
