The ruling Civil Contract Party is discussing the matter of depriving a number of opposition lawmakers of their parliamentary mandates. Artur Hovhannisyan, secretary of the ruling majority "Civil Contract" Faction in the National Assembly (NA), stated about this Thursday during the traditional press briefings in the NA.
According to him, the considering of this matter was a unique response to "public demands."
"Many citizens, seeing the behavior of the opposition MPs and the methods of using the MP’s mandate, have made such a demand," Hovhannisyan said.
The lawmaker admitted, however, that the respective opinions were divided in the ruling party.
The discussions in this regard, as Artur Hovhannisyan noted, continue, and there is no final decision yet.
