YEREVAN. – Secretary General of the Council of Europe (CoE), Marija Pejcinovic Buric, considers the meeting between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev to be encouraging. She stated this after her meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, in Yerevan.

She considers also encouraging the announcement following the meeting, and the work of the committee on Armenian-Azerbaijani border delimitation and security.

According to her, we must move towards reconciliation with confidence, and the respective initiatives are welcome. In this context, Pejcinovic Buric noted the meeting of public representatives of the two countries in Venice in May—and under the auspices of the Council of Europe, thanked the Armenian authorities for their support, and expressed readiness for further cooperation.
