The politician noted that Abe was his good friend, whom he always supported.

Fumio Kishida served as foreign minister during Abe's second term as prime minister. It was also reported that the current prime minister received his position largely thanks to Abe's support.

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe died on July 8 following an assassination attempt. The attacker turned out to be 41-year-old Japanese Tetsuya Yamagami, who served in the Japanese Navy. The detainee stated that he was dissatisfied with the politician and wanted to kill him.
