YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: As is known, criminal proceedings—a criminal case—have been launched against Gagik Jhangiryan [now former acting chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC)], based on the [audio] recording publicized by Ruben Vardazaryan, former chairman of RA Supreme Judicial Council.
And, according to the information received by Zhoghovurd daily, after the initiation of criminal proceedings, yesterday, the RA Investigative Committee called Ruben Vardazaryan in for questioning as a witness. (...).
Zhoghovurd daily tried to find out the [veracity of this] information from Ruben Vardazaryan, in response to which the latter confirmed: "I was called in and questioned as a witness. They told me to provide the full version of the recording, but I replied that under no circumstances would I provide it. That's it."
Let us note that days after the controversial recording and the most obscure interview by Gagik Jhangiryan, it was announced that the latter has health problems and underwent an operation. It was obvious that Jhangiryan resigned under the guise of health problems—causing new confusion for the SJC.
