New Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid held his first telephonic conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the PM's office informed Sunday.
“During their conversation, President Erdoğan congratulated Prime Minister Lapid and wished him success in his new role,” added the respective statement.
Prime Minister Lapid thanked Erdogan for the cooperation between their countries on thwarting attempted terror attacks against Israelis in Turkey.
The two leaders emphasized that Israel-Turkey relations are “of great importance for security, the economy, and stability in the Middle East.”
