Member of the Swedish Parliament Markus Wiechel addressed the Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde with a question about the recognition of Russia as a "state sponsor of terrorism".
Wiechel reminded that on 10 May the Seimas of Lithuania unanimously voted for recognizing Russia as a "terrorist state" due to a war in Ukraine. Lithuania considered Russia's actions as genocide of the Ukrainian population and also called on the world community to create a special criminal court that would assess and deal with "Russia's aggression."
In addition, it was reported that the U.S. authorities are studying the eligibility of Russia to be put on the list of states sponsoring terrorism against the background of the events in Ukraine.
"How does the minister assess U.S. and Lithuanian initiatives? Can we expect the minister to initiate similar decisions in Sweden, the EU or some international platforms?" Wiechel said.
