As many of you have you already been informed, the RA government is creating a Ministry of Internal Affairs. Edmon Marukyan, Ambassador-at-Large of the Republic of Armenia (RA) and Chairman of the Bright Armenia Party, wrote this on Facebook.
"According to the [respective] draft put into circulation, the rescue service (currently the Ministry of Emergency Situations), the police, the police troops, the migration and citizenship service, the training center (as an SNOC) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will operate within the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Moreover, we used to have a Ministry of Internal Affairs, which was transformed into separate structures back in the 2000s by the authorities of the day, as a result of which the most important institutions of law enforcement [in Armenia] were left out of parliamentary oversight and came under the direct authority of the authorities of the day.
I hope that the steps aimed at creating the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be completed soon and the end result will be a more advanced and transparent institution," Marukyan added.
