Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev has pinned special hopes on French President Emmanuel Macron and France regarding the normalization of his country’s relations with Armenia.
"The new geopolitical reality formed in the South Caucasus has created a fertile ground for stable peace and regional economic cooperation," it is said in Aliyev's congratulatory message to the French President on the occasion of the French National Day.
According to Aliyev, Azerbaijan plans to turn the chapter of the war, as well as to normalize relations and sign a peace treaty with Armenia.
"We [i.e., Azerbaijan] believe that France will make a valuable contribution to the process of preparing a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia, based on the five principles we presented that are based on international law," also reads the letter by the Azerbaijani president.
