The European Commission will sue Hungary over its law banning homosexual propaganda, Politico reported, citing the Hungarian newspaper Népszava.

The law, passed in June, has raised alarm in the LGBT community because it bans the use of materials promoting homosexuality and gender reassignment in schools as a measure to prevent child abuse.

The governing government of the Christian Democratic Party Fidesz has noted that LGBTQ rights and other such social issues should be addressed by national governments and added that the law aims to protect children and is not against the LGBT community.
