Ombudswoman of Armenia Kristinne Grigoryan and representatives of the Office of Human Rights Defender visited the Central gathering point of the Ministry of Defense on Monday to observe the process of summer draft on the spot, Ombudswoman's Office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Kristinne Grigoryan accompanied by the head of the army recruitment and mobilization service of the Defense Ministry and the leadership of the Central recruitment center, toured the recruitment center.
She followed the process of the draft, got acquainted with the existing conditions of the organization of the draft at the assembly point, the order of meeting, reception and registration of conscripts.
During the inspection of the assembly point special attention was paid to the work of the medical commission and the process of medical examinations of conscripts. The questions connected with the process and methods of examination of conscripts were discussed with the doctors.
During the conversation with conscripts, special attention was paid to issues related to their health, moral and psychological state, and questions of interest to the latter were touched upon. The draftees were also introduced to their rights, as well as the procedure of appealing to the Ombudswoman.
The Human Rights Defender congratulated the conscripts on joining the Armed Forces, wished them a peaceful and safe service, noting that the issues related to their rights will be under her close attention.
At the end of the visit there was a separate discussion with the head of the service of draft and mobilization replenishment of the Ministry of Defense and the management of the Central assembly point. The Human Rights Defender was presented with a number of important issues related to conscription and requiring priority solutions.
