The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan met in Tbilisi, Georgia, on Saturday.
France, determined to achieve lasting peace in the South Caucasus, welcomed the meeting, the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"France reiterates its commitment to continue the direct dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia so that these countries create favorable conditions for the normalization of their relations," the embassy said.
On Saturday, a bilateral meeting of Armenian Foreign Ministers Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov was held in Tbilisi.
The press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported that during the meeting, Mirzoyan and Bayramov discussed a wide range of issues related to the settlement of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In this regard, the sides discussed the implementation of previous commitments and exchanged views on possible next steps.
