YEREVAN. – Speaker Alen Simonyan of the Republic of Armenia National Assembly (RA NA) on Wednesday received the delegation led by the Vice President Katrin Goring-Eckardt of the German Bundestag. The sides greatly highlighted the stable development of Armenia-Germany friendly relations and the deepening of inter-parliamentary cooperation, the NA informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.
During the talk the necessity of parliamentary multi-layer cooperation, joint projects between the NA and the Bundestag was in the centre of attention and stressed. “Germany is the biggest trade-economic partner of Armenia among the EU countries. We also highly appreciate the assistance of Germany to the democratic agenda of Armenia,” Alen Simonyan noted.
At the meeting issues regarding the post-war situation, establishing lasting peace in the region were discussed. The NA President noted that Armenia has an agenda of opening an era of peace in the region and makes efforts in unblocking the regional infrastructures and transport communications, delimitation and border security. He emphasized that Armenia has no regional demands towards its neighbors.
The German colleague informed that they watchfully observe the events going on in the region and expressed conviction that the peaceful negotiations are considered to be the effective way for the solution of the conflicts.
During the meeting, the organization of the well-known Christian Prayer Breakfast being part of the rich parliamentary tradition of Germany, as well as practical issues relating to the renewable energy were discussed.
