Negotiations between Iran and Saudi Arabia will be resumed in the near future, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani, Mehr reported.

Commenting on past rounds of talks, Kanani noted that their results were positive. "They created a common motivation and understanding that we need to continue on this path to reach an understanding and take a step to resume relations between the two countries. Fortunately, you can see the motivation and the political will in the two capitals. The Iraqi government also continues its constructive and positive role," he added.

Kanani said that the recent consultations between the government of Iraq and the government of Saudi Arabia and the ongoing talks between the authorities of Iraq and the authorities of the Islamic Republic have created a suitable atmosphere for the next round of talks, which will take place in the near future, adding that Iran hopes that the talks will lead to tangible and practical results in improving relations between the two countries.

He also noted that an exact time for the resumption of talks has not yet been set.
