World history is moving to a new stage in which only truly sovereign states can show high growth dynamics, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, TASS reported.

His remarks came when he spoke on Wednesday at the forum "Strong Ideas for New Time."

"No matter how much the Western and so-called supranational elites seek to preserve the existing order of things, a new era, a new stage in world history is coming after all. And only truly sovereign states can ensure high growth dynamics, become an example for others in standards and quality of life, protection of traditional values and high humanistic ideals, models of development, in which a person becomes not a means but the highest goal," the Russian leader said.

He drew attention to the fact that now "truly revolutionary transformations are gaining momentum and strength more and more." "These tremendous changes are, of course, irreversible. And both at the national and at the global level there is an elaboration of foundations, principles of a harmonious, more just, socially oriented and safe world order, alternative to the existing or, one might say, the unipolar world order, which by its nature certainly becomes a brake on the development of civilization," he noted.
