Two Americans who allegedly fought on the side of Ukraine were killed in the east of the country, U.S. State Department spokesman said, ABC News reported.

“We can confirm the recent deaths of two U.S. citizens in the Donbas region of Ukraine,” a State Department spokesperson said. “We are in touch with the families and providing all possible consular assistance.”

The agency did not give the names of the dead or any additional information about them.
