Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida tested positive for the new coronavirus on Sunday, Kyodo News reported, citing Kishida's office.
Kishida, who is currently resting at his official residence, has been experiencing mild symptoms such as a slight fever and cough since Saturday evening, the Japanese premier's office said.
The 65-year-old Japanese leader was due to return to duty from Monday after a week-long summer vacation with his family.
